I would like to thank the PTO for purchasing the Falcon Mascot. Their generosity allowed the Falcon to visit all of the classrooms at the end of the day today to wish the students a happy and safe holiday.

Below I have posted some pictures of the NewBrook Holiday concert for those of you who could not attend. The students and Mrs. Ullman did a fantastic job!
Today we had our first ever NewBrook all school sing. All the kids were excited to sing holiday favorites like Frosty the Snow Man, Rocking Around the Christmas Tree, Jingle Bells and many others. I also took the opportunity to acknowledge our January Student of the Month and all of the students who received the Falcon Award.
The Falcon Award is given to students from any adult in the building that recognizes when the student is doing a random act of kindness or had made an improvement in their school work and/or effort. The top part of the award is mailed home and the bottom half is put into a raffle where a name is drawn during school sing from the list of students who had received a Falcon award for that particular month.
The student of the month can be viewed by clicking on the heading at the top of the page. I would also like to thank all the parents who attended this mornings' school sing and hope to see more parents attending as the months go on. Our next school sing will be towards the end of January. Thanks to everyone in the NewBrook Community for such a great year so far. Have a Safe and Happy Holiday.
It will soon be time for elections of town officials. The Newfane School Board will have 3 vacancies on the ballot at the upcoming vote at Town Meeting on March 6, 2012. Although elected as a Newfane School Board member, the majority of work is accomplished as a member of the Brookline and Newfane Joint School Board. All members of the Newfane board serve on the Joint Board. Regular meetings are held monthly. Vacancies include 2 seats for 1 year each and 1 seat for 3 years. If you are interested in running, please contact Kim Friedman, School Board Chair, at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 348-7988 for more information.
Take a look at the awesome powerpoint presentation Mrs. Branley put together. The students did a great job researching, reporting and making art about their insects. Great work!

SCHOOL SING HAS ARRIVED!
I would like to first thank Mrs. Ullman for making this happen. I am pleased to announce that on December 22nd at 8:45 - 9:15 in the gym, we will be having our first school sing at NewBrook. This will be the first of our once a month gatherings that will take place. Following the singing segment each month, I will be presenting student awards for various accomplishments and contributions that they have made. As parents, please take advantage of this opportunity of coming together as a community for a 1/2 hr. each month to celebrate the accomplishments of the kids and have some fun. I look forward to seeing all of you.
