We are from Mrs. Biolsi's 5th grade classroom, we are participating in a program called Wild Treasures. We are doing a waste-watch competition and we are the group that teaches kids why it's important to compost and not to over compost. Some people might think that composting is great, but sometimes it has its down-sides. Over the past few weeks we have been researching and we think our school has been over composting. The meaning of over composting is creating more and more food waste at our school than anybody can use and more work for our janitor Patrick Mace. One way to not over compost is to finish your all the food on your tray or in your lunch box at lunch time. Since the Amazing Planet farm (located in Newfane) isn't taking our compost anymore Patrick has to take it home with him! We are hoping it will have a good impact on our school.
