The WCSU will return to a normal level of concern for safety and security in our schools tomorrow (Wednesday). Principals and staff will continue to be alert. External doors will be locked and all visitors will enter schools via the main entrance. The entrance will be monitored. For the past two days we have taken safety precautions appropriate to the circumstances. We appreciate your patience and understanding and will always err on the side of caution.
I wanted to share with everyone the reason for having the Sheriff Dept. at NewBrook this morning. I got an email from the Superintendent at 7:30 this morning notifying me of the precautions that Brattleboro was taking. Based on that, the Windham County Sheriffs Dept had an officer at NewBrook Elementary school. The only reason that the Sheriffs Dept. had been at NewBrook was to be a visible presence. It seems that what ever is going on is specific to The Brattleboro school district. The Sheriff Dept. was put at NewBrook and Marlboro because we are the book ends for the Brattleboro schools. At this time, I do not have any information other that what has been put out to the general public. However; I wanted to communicate to everyone what was going on today. NewBrook is not or at any point during the day in any kind of lock down.
Please join us on January 29, 2013 for our monthly school sing. We will start at 8:45 in the NewBrook school gym. Please sign in at the front office upon arrival.
Due to the extreme cold weather and wind chill factors that are being forecast for Wednesday, Januar23, 2013, all winter sport activities have been cancelled. Students will have a regular school day.
Just a reminder to everyone that there is no school on Monday, January 21st in observance of Martin Luther King Day and also on Tuesday, January 22nd, due to teacher in-service. Have a great long weekend and we will see everyone for Winter Sports on Wed.
