Our First Lunch at NewBrook
For the first time ever at NewBrook, students were served Lunch that was prepared and served out of our new kitchen. All the students enjoyed their lunch together in the gym/caf. instead of their classrooms. The food was healthy, hot, fresh and delicious. We also took a moment to talk about composting.
Kindergarten Camp A Success!
Today, Mrs. Bostrom had our new Kindergarten class come into NewBrook for some fun activities, tour and a snack. This gave the Kindergarten class an opportunity to become familiar with their new surroundings and classmates before the rest of the students arrive on Tuesday, August 28th. Thank you Mrs. Bostrom.
Rock River Revival Parade this Sunday, August 26th!
Greetings all NewBrook families! Hope your summer so far has been a great one!
We have been invited to participate in the Rock River Revival Parade this Sunday, August 26th! (Apologies for the short notice, this just came together!) Parade itself starts at noon.
If your child would like to be in the parade, they have the choice to walk or ride their bike (decorating suggested) with a contingent of their NewBrook peers. Suggestions from parade organizers: the more signs we have thanking the Williamsville/South Newfane Firefighters the better! Also feel free to make NewBrook related signs. Get creative! This might be the end of summer last week before school diversion/activity you've been praying for!
Please plan to gather at the parade start (the rubble pile on Dover Road in South Newfane, just about 1/2 mile from the Williamsville covered bridge) at 11am so we can be put into position with other parade participants. There will be a BBQ following the parade (sponsored by Top of the Hill Grill), so please plan to stay and have lunch!
Trish Coyne is organizing this event for NewBrook, so please contact her directly with questions at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 348-4023. Also it would be great if you could RSVP so we know you plan to attend. We aim to have a great representation of our NewBrook community at this local event, so it would be great to see your child there!

WELCOME BACK TO NEWBROOK
Dear NewBrook Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year. We are very excited to have you and your children as part of the NewBrook community. Every staff member has been working very hard to prepare for the return of our wonderful students. We have set very high expectations this year, and have made some changes to instruction and assessment that will assist us in making sure that every student at NewBrook Elementary School will have a successful school year.
Students’ academic success is the main goal of every staff member at NewBrook Elementary School. We believe that every student will learn to the highest level and we are prepared to offer more time and support to every student that needs it. I ask for your support and participation in this effort by sending your child to school every day, encouraging your child to read at least 30 min. every evening, monitoring your child's homework, and asking your child to share what they learned at school each day.
We are very excited about the start of the new school year. School starts on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 8:30 AM and buses arrived at 3:00 PM every day. This summer, the school has seen a few physical changes. A new roof was put on the school and there has been some painting in the interior of the school, as well. I have tried to keep everyone up to date through the school’s web-site. Please get in the habit of going to the school web-site at newbrookschool.org. The school uses the web-site as an important communication and resource tool for the community and families at NewBrook Elementary. I would also like to remind families that this year we will be serving lunch out of our own kitchen and students will be eating in the gym/cafeteria.
I know that in the past the year was kicked off with a pot luck dinner the day before school starts. However this year, after thoughtful conversations with parents and others in the school community, I decided that the pot luck will take place during the first Open House sometime during the first few months of school.
As Principal, I will continue to listen, observe, and meet with people to identify what works well and what things can be improved upon. I’m sure that the staff and the NewBrook PTO will assist me in their roles and together, we can forge ahead and continue to build upon the success of last year. I would also like to remind everyone that if your child is going to be arriving at school late, or is absent, please make sure you call the school no later than 8:45 AM. The number to call is 365-7536. Leave a message if you cannot reach Melanie.
Last, but not least, please make an appointment to see me if you have questions and or concerns about anything. Many times assumptions are made based on inaccurate or incomplete information. So please don’t hesitate to contact me so I can assist you with any questions or concerns you may have. My door is always open. The staff and I look forward to welcoming you to another wonderful school year. See you all soon!
