JISP

The Junior Instructional Snow Program provides local school children K-6th grade an affordable way to learn to ski or snowboard. Stratton continues to partner with the JISP program for the following local school children who attend Jamaica Village School, The Mountain School, Grafton Elementary, Newbrook, Townsend, Windham School and Home Schooled children living in a town that is associated with one of the above schools

If your child wishes to participate in  Stratton's JISP program during our winter sports weeks please click the sign-up link below.

The program is heavily dependent on adult on-snow chaperones.  By volunteering your time as an adult on-snow chaperone you will also receive the heavily discounted pass (same 18 days of skiing).  You don't need to be a pro skier/rider, you just need a willingness to share your love of downhill snow-sports with our students.  There is a mandatory safety training in December (various dates)-- please make note of that and commit to attending one training.  You will not receive a pass without going to the training.  See below for more details and the registration link.  You will be contacted by our JISP coordinator in December to learn more about your role as an adult on-snow chaperone with our school.

JISP WEDNESDAYS (Lessons start at 1PM, Free ski 2:30-4PM):  January 3, 10, 24 , February 7, 14, 28 and March 13, 20*

*NewBrook School will not be attending all of these dates-- full winter sports schedules will be communicated through the school in November.  Student and adult on-snow chaperone passes will still scan at Stratton on all of the dates listed above whether the school is there or not.

JISP SUNDAYS:  January 21, 28 , February 4, 11, 25 and March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31

SIGN UP DEADLINE IS NOVEMBER 15th

Cost is $63 for 18 days of skiing/riding.  Equipment rentals are $10 per visit or $150 for the season. Reduced daily rental rates are not available on Sundays.

To set up seasonal rentals: call Village Rentals @ 802-297-4099 (mention you are interested in the JISP seasonal rental deal)

JISP Scholarships are available- contact Suzanne Paugh for more info.

All students in grades K-2 will need to be accompanied by an adult to participate in JISP Wednesdays.  Students in grades 3-5 can attend Wednesday JISP independently and will be assigned an adult volunteer driver and on-snow chaperone.  On JISP Sundays all students will need to have adult transportation/supervision as worked out by each family.

PASSES ARE ONLY AVAILABLE FOR CHAPERONES WHO ARE ON-SNOW with student skiers/riders.*

ALL ON-SNOW adults who sign up for the chaperone pass MUST attend a MANDATORY MOUNTAIN SAFETY COURSE to receive their passes.  Course dates are - Dec 8, Dec 10, Dec 12, Dec 13, Dec 17.  Be "on-snow ready" @ 1:15PM and meet in front of Stratton Ski School building.

*All adult volunteers will need to have fingerprints/background checks completed before participating in any aspect of JISP (driving, on-snow chaperone, lodge helper).  Call/email Susan Haskins (shaskins@windhamcentral.org) to make an appointment 802-365-9510.
